Was it your first time? If it was he might be nervous about it. Or he's worried or stressed or tired...
There's a bunch of reasons why he might not be able to get hard and most of them a really no reason to worry about. I'd say just be patient and don't pressure him. This is probably bothering him loads more than you.

Ok you need to provide more information.
How old is he? Does he have any medical conditions like diabetes or high blood pressure? Is he on any medications? Has this happened before? Was alcohol or drugs involved? Was he unusually tired or worried? Did you try to get him hard with your hand or mouth?
If all the above are negative, there are very effective medications that the doctor can prescribe to help.
