I am also 12 years old and not aloud to have a bf. I do. All we do really is hold hands hug talk and kiss. The way I told my parents is like this. I said mom what age did you have a bf and then she said 14 and I said so 12 year olds can't have bf's and she said well yeah and I said so you wouldnt be mad if I have one and she said no as long as you act your age and thats what I do. As long as you are not doing anything wrong, then there isn't a reason for them to be weird about it. Just remember you are only 12 and that having a boyfriend at this age isn't like having a boyfriend later. It is about curiosity and self-confusion (which is normal).
If you remain innocent then I say don't bother telling them, but if he starts acting less than innocent, you should be the mature one and tell him to stop. In my opinion, anything more than a kiss is too much for 12 years old. (If you can even gather the courage for a kiss) There is plenty of time for other stuff after you get a little older. Wait for high school before you attempt anything past a kiss.
I'm sure many would disagree and say everything is off limits for a 12 year old, but curiosity doesn't hurt as long as you stay innocent.
Just be careful. Dating can be a dangerous world. The older you are the smarter you are when it comes to dating.
