Often they feel insecure and focus more on their blemishes than their beauty. They often compare themselves with the airbrushed pictures of models in magazines.

Something I want to add is that some girls don't want to stop hearing compliments - who does? So they act like they didn't hear it. If my mother tells me that I look pretty I don't necessarily believe her and need a second opinion.
The magazines with airbrushed and altered images are really not doing a service to women's opinions about themselves, that's for sure.

Maybe they are just jealous and insecure.
