There aren't any accurate statistics available on how many people re-marry their ex.
Counselling service Relate claims that up to 25% of people who get divorced end up regretting their decision.
Getting remarried to an ex
In my opinion, getting re-married to an ex-partner isn't crazy.
No matter how much bitterness and anger may have passed between you, there are very few people who know you as well as an ex.
There's also no getting away from the fact that you managed to connect with your ex in a really intimate way - that kind of relationship doesn't just disappear, a trace of it will last forever.
There's a great Daily Maily article entitled, 'Getting divorced was the biggest mistake of our lives (so we all got re-married!)' which I'd recommend you look at if you're interested in stories of people who were able to rekindle a previous marriage.
MSNBC also published an endearing article that opens with the Iris Murdoch quote, "Falling out of love is chiefly a matter of forgetting how charming someone is".
Call me soppy - but I can totally relate to that line. It pretty much sums up how my ex-husband and I currently feel about each other, although I'm not sure whether we'll end up getting re-married just yet!
