Why Are Dads So Mean?

I don't think children need dads. After all, other animals grow up fine without having dads. I would be fine without one as long as my mom is successful.

You know, sometimes I feel that marrying this "man" was the worst thing to happen to my mom's health. She used to be very healthy because no one drove her anywhere, and to any restaurants. It might also be the worst thing to happen to me too!

I'm sorry that your dad is mean. Not all dads are mean, and it isn't right to judge all dads for the behavior of yours, or maybe a few other "mean" dads you have met. Dads are often cranky, is all. I don't know every detail of your family situation, but many dads think of children as "annoying" and after a long, hard, stressful day at work, they just want peace and quiet. This can be very distressing. But give him some time, and maybe try to get him to take a break.
