Having any romantic notions about your best friend’s brother can be tricky. There are many variables to consider and every situation is different. Regardless you still have to consider the feelings of your best friend (and their parents if you are underage) before even considering the brothers. Do your best friend and their brother get along well enough to accommodate you dating? What will happen if the relationship goes sour and doesn’t end amicably? These are all things that you must consider and think all the way through before even thinking about how the brother may feel.
By no means would I suggest you bypass your own happiness for the feelings of others, just consider your actions before you make the choice to act on any feelings you may have.
I have the same problem. TELL YOUR FRIEND. Do it slowly, see how she reacts. If she's a good friend she'll be fine with it and maybe even help you hint to her brother that you like him. Try to go over to her house and do things he likes to do so that he will join in. Then start talking about stuff. Ask him what he likes to do, what classes he's good at, etc. Say things like, "that's so cool!" when he answers, but don't go overboard. And get your friend to help with the hinting thing. Don't do it. My best friend likes my closest brother. And sometimes I feel like she comes over for him. Like when she spends the night. Shes with him. And she really doesnt understand how much it hurts me. And shes in love with him. And hes in love with her. And its so hard on me. They just don't understand.
Try being his friend first, see if there is chemistry between the two of you, see if you have similar interests, and if you enjoy each others company. Do however not exclude your friend. Tell her that you like him and you would like to be friends with him. Also tell her that you will respect her decision if she doesnt want you to get involved with him. If you guys do become friends, do not make your best friend feel left out or like a third wheel. Ask her opinion. These situations can become tricky as both parties could feel rejected by you if you don't spend equal amounts of time with them. But also, it can be a very pleasant experience. Be sure not to "become another person" when you do go out with this guy - be true to yourself and don't pretend to be someone you're not, your friend might not like the "new" you. Good luck.

I have this problem too. I'm 15 and so my friend and her brother. There twins so their really close and I've grown up with the two of them since I was about 1 years old. I don't know if you should go for it because it depends on what type of guy he is. If he is hard to get and rejects girls even though he never dates, then it might be harder. The first time I went to my best friend sarahs house her brother Johnny was there. He is 15 and I'm 13. But one night we played truth or dare and Sarah dared Johnny to kiss me. We played the game for 5 hours until 4:30am. I got his number the next day and it turned out I would spend the whole spring break with them. So I slept over for a week. Then a couple of days after I left he asked me out and he was my first kiss btw. But I said yes to him so I wept Sarah a really long letter telling her how sorry I was and that I hope she wouldn't be mad at me and she wasn't mad she was just weirded put by it. She let me have sleepovers until my parents found out. My dad hates it when people don't tell him things so I was in slot of trouble.. 5 months later after spring break I got to see him again. We both realized the feelings go eachother never went away and I convinced my mom to let me sleepover with Sarah (and Johnny) and she thought she could trust me and I thought she would never fond out but in the middle of the might me an Johnny made a plan so I went in his room and I slept there with him but we woke up and I went back to sarahs room before she woke up so I thought she wouldn't find out either. Me and Johnny did NOT do anything bad we just fell asleep together but days later I told my other friend about it and she told Sarah and my dad can read msgs on my phone and Sarah said "y did you sleep with Johnny!!" and then my dad found out.... I have a lot of new rules around the house and the phone. I can't even go to school football games without my da being there and o have to keep my door open at all times unless I'm changing, I can't text johnny, and I have to give my phone to him at 9pm every night and I can't use the computer after 9 either.. I have never felt the way I do about Johnny with anybody else. I'm not saying it's love but it is something special to both of us.
I have also been in this situation, I went round to my friends house and we were sat on her trampoline talking about guys and she asked who I liked atm so I admitted it to her there and then she thought it was sweet and was totally fine with it. Tell your best friend that her like her brother. If he likes you that would be great, but think about how much your best friend means to you. If you and her brother get involved at all and something goes wrong, that could cause problems with you and your best friend.

My friend likes my brother and he is only a year younger than me. I hate it. But I don't know how to tell her that without starting world war 3. Everytime she brings him up we argue. So one day in the summer I was at my best friends place, and her brother, who had always loved me said, " hey, can you come upstairs I want to show you something really cool!" so I said ok, and I went upstairs, he took me by the hand and said we need to talk. So I said ok, he placed me on his bed, and started talking. He said ever since that first kiss (may 29, 2010) I have been thinking about you non stop, and I want to be with you, and blah blah blah. Isn't really an answer but oh well. Here it is: I am in love with my best friends brother and have been for the last almost 8 years. Me and my friend have been inseparable since kindergarten. Now that we are freshman in highschool, we are starting to get really serious about boys. I have a the same problem , its just that my "best" friend keeps me at arms length and when I do go over to her house she is like all over this neighbour she fancies. So me and her brother always talk and joke around together but he is like 2 and a half years younger than me so it would be really weird if we went out, oh and because its like a big family bbq or something all of her family puts hints about me and him going out and winks at me . At the time my best friend was totally against it. I respected he wishes but I never got over him. Now I am with him thanks to my best friend. Depends how your bestfriend would take it. I just found out my friend likes my older brother. I did not take it so well because my last bestfriend was all over my brother. That's why were not friends anymore. So I think if you would like to keep your bestfriend just still talk to her brother sometimes, but keep a certain distance. It's hard to find good friends. If you really care about your friend, don't do it. I have lost two of my best friends because of this and I'm on the third. It really hurts me to think that they chose a two month relationship over a lifelong friendship. Best friends tell each other everything, your friend won't want to hear about you and your brother so it causes an awkward wall in your relationship and secrets. High school relationships are fun but it's not like you're going to married. It just isn't worth it. Your friend may try to tell you she doesn't care, but trust me she does. She'll wonder whether you ever really liked her or you just liked her brother. I'm not saying you've always had motives but you can never really prove that to her.

Yea I knw how you feel. I like my bestfriends older brother. He's 16 turning 17 and I'm 15. I like when I go to her house its for her, not him, but people always say and tell her that I'm probally there just to see him, but thts not it. I don't even talk to her borher, unless he ask me something, she doesnt understand me though... Like whenever I bring up his name and say something bout likeing him shes just like "whatever" &"he wouldnt date you, your to young blah blah blah". I reallly like him though; for looks I mean &I see how he act around others, hes very kind and funny :) I don't know what to do though. I want to keep my friendship, but I want him just as much. Sometimes I think you got to just pick whats more important if its just not working out.

You should come and see Laura......so I can see you... Or go to the river. The next day said wont it be rude if I come ova your house without permission off her. And he said yeh so then he said jst go to the river.. Coz think of what you will be wearin...a bikini...and you look good in a bikini... Don't tell anyone that" so I said thanks and he said "well its the truth". And evertime when he has to go to sleep he says ilyxx. And then just about half an hour ago he had to go so he said "iloveeyouu xoxoxoxoxoxo" and I'm not sure if he likes me!! I hope he does (and I told my friend erin and she told Laura and I had to Denie of liking him do you think I should tell Laura?)
I liked my best mates older brother too. She was fine with it, but she also didn't like talking about it or getting involved. It will probably be a bit weird at first, such as when you go over their house, but your there as his girlfriend not just as the best mate. Give it time.
Yeah I'm having the same problem..My best friend's older brother is gorgeous!! And I really like him but I don't know if he likes me he gives me mix signals and even my best friend jokes around and says that she thinks he likes me..everytime I go over their house he always stays in the house to hangs with us and picks on me and makes fun of me..?? Does that mean he likes me or should I just forget about it?
I'm in love with my best friend's brother. I told him that I liked him, and he asked me to wait until we could met and talk about it. I didn't tell anything to my best friend because, I knew she would make a scene over nothing. THeir aunts told my friend that I liked her brother, but I haven't told them nothing. Now she discovered, and thinks I told them. She doesn't speak to me for a week now. And I acknowledge that she is going to talk with him in the same day I was. What should I do? She is angry and is calling me liar. I never lied to her.

I'm in the same boat!!!! But I wld never tell my best friend because ALL her other friends think her brother's hot 2! I'm the only one that "doesnt". So I wld never tell her she wld never understand...... So I think its best 2 maybe keep it between you and him or just 2 urself. Like I do I keep it 2 my self and sum other friends who do understand.
Don't go for it. My best friend likes my brother and she has no idea how badly it's hurting me. I always feel like she'll only come over to hangout with my brother, and everything will just be ruined if they go out.
Don't DO IT. I just found out this weekend when we were at my lake house, that my best friend and my younger brother have been dating for 4 weeks. WORST WEEKEND EVER. I cried the whole weekend because they have lied and never told me for that whole time.When I found out they were texting I told her not to & she said she would never text him again, and she didnt know how strongly I felt about it. But when I went to babysit during the week they would secretly hangout. I mean come on! Its my brother! What happened to girl code and "Never date your friends brother" let alone best friend! Me and my ex-best friend havent talked in days now.I feel betrayed beyond belief. Its horrible , so just save her the pain and get over it.
