Times are changing. And we all remember being a teen, right? When you are a teenager, your hormones are all out of whack. When you are a teenager, you think that you are an adult. The feeling of knowing it all and your parents don't know what's going on and/or don't understand. All these feelings are quite normal.
Your teenager doesn't hate you. It's a phase in which they go through and parents (although tough) just has continue to love their kids as well as hope and pray that they out grow their phase sooner than later.
Again, this is just a phase in which he/she is feeling that you don't understand and the only way they can express frustration is to say "I hate you". Also, their brains are not fully developed. Therefore they do not see the world as we do. They do not think as far ahead as far as how hurtful their words can make you feel.
Just continue to shower your teenager with love (although sometimes hard :-)) and they'll eventually come around.

Hope this helped!
