What's meant to be will be. So why do we try? Things may not get how we want them without trying

If I believed that I wouldn't bother to get out of bed in the morning.

Expressions like "what's meant to be will be" are what Susan Stebbing called "potted thinking". A cliché doesn't have meaning just because lots of people repeat it. Your destiny is in your own hands. It's up to you to decide how successful your life will be.

I'll explain part of my living ideology and hope this helps you to find what you seeking for.

I believe in destiny, at the same time, i believe we are directors of our lives. And i believe in energy.

I direct my life, i make the decisions and the challenge is how many rights and wrongs i mark on my path. The more right decisions i make the sooner i reach my goal. More wrongs just put delay to the process. Also, if i be smart, from each mistake i make, i catch the lessons, so i cancel any further delay. Also, my life depends on how i think. Our mind is so powerful, if i fill it with positiveness and i be able to control the pulse of this positive line regardless of the tensions, the direction and speed toward my goal will be more clear. The more i fill it with negativeness or not be able to keep that positiveness stable, more mess will be found on my way.

In the other hand as i believe in destiny, destiny is there to give me the signs, to show me the main roads, i direct my life and destiny puts out the resolution of the image. That's where i found the rule that i have called "Must-Unmust"

"Sometimes you do want to do something, but it shouldn't happen, no matter what, it never gets done, and if you push it too hard, you'll get hurt"

"Sometimes you do not want to do something, but it should happen, whatsoever, no matter how hard you try to avoid it, it will come, because it meant to be there, and if you try too hard to avoid it, you'll get hurt"

This is the combination of our own involvement, destiny and energy in my life. And of course in a very short version which turned almost long enough!

I think both Didge Doo and Matt Radiance have some pretty good wisdom / advice in their answers.

There is another old saying:  If you plant a white post upright in a field and you want it to stay white, you are going to have to repaint it every once in a while.

I also  believe in energy ... And there are energy forces around us that we can't even begin to fathom. I also believe in logic and that we can (on many levels) direct destiny.  For example .. There are consequences for making bad choices.

I believe there are no guarantees and we need to pay attention to the world around us.  We need to make educated guesses sometimes, and sometimes we can get away with being spontaneous. I believe there are some things we can control and something we can't.  It's always about balance .. And the never ending challenge to gain it.

i believe that. And what isn't meant to be falls apart, but with that failure there is usually a lesson to be learned. You have to learn how to fail to truly succeed, and also to truly appreciate your success, Along with some of my failures I have made some great friends.

Dear Nana Daydreaming, this is kinda long and I apologize for that...but for me, it has worked well in addressing your question in my own life.                 It is attributed to Thomas Banyacya Sr. (1910-1999), Speaker of the Wolf,         Fox and Coyote Clan, Elder of the Hopi Nation.

There is a river flowing now very fast,
It is so great and swift.
That there are those who will be afraid,
They will try to hold onto the shore.
They will feel they are being pulled apart,
And will suffer greatly.

Understand that the river knows its destination,
The elders say we must let go of the shore.
Push off into the middle of the river,
Keep our eyes open and our heads above water.

And I say; see who is in there with you,
Hold fast to them and celebrate!

At this time in history,
We are to take nothing personally.
Least of all, ourselves!
For the moment we do,
Our spiritual growth and journey comes to an end.
The time of the Lone Wolf is over!

Gather yourselves!
Banish the word ‘struggle’ from your attitude and vocabulary.
All that we do now must be done,
In a sacred manner and in celebration.

We are all about to go on a journey,
We are the ones we have been waiting for!

And for Tom Jackson, if you chance by here...in our ongoing discussions,     I am actually seeing this as an expression of the Sacred Heart, working in creation.
