I tend to say 'Excuse me, the line starts here' and show them the back of it. Other people mostly back you up if you do this.

What if scenario : )  - i make a phone call and have their vehicle towed from their work the next week and tell their boss they are behind on their payments then the car is found parked in a handicapped spot later where the police mysteriously show up giving the driver a 1500 dollar fine or take their drivers license for 6 months. Then i make a another phone call telling the driver(the person that stepped in front of me) that the next time they think to jump in line ahead of anyone maybe they should think twice.hahahahahaha : ). Here is one(another story) a co-worker actually did at a gas station- the kid(young man) jump the line and walked into pay for his gas while the co-worker removed his valves on the kids(young mans) tires, then walked inside and handed the kid(young man) his valves and said here you may needs these to get home. : ) hahahahaha.technically this is not tampering with a vehicle since the kid could not drive anywhere with 4 flat tires. : ).you never know who you are cutting in line in front of when out in public. Doh!

Complain to the manager (make such a ruckus that no one can get their order or buy anything til the issue is resolved)until they escort the person out of the place or refuse to serve them.

I would call someone like that assertive. Now if it happens to me, I tell them to get out of my way, and if they refuse, then I force them out of my way. But I think a person who cuts off a line is an assertive person who knows what they want, which is a good thing ^.^ just not when I'm the one being cut off

At my age, it doesn't matter any more, I'm too slow to care. I just say "Hello, your majesty, welcome to the line".
