Whilst it will genuinely depend on the woman in question, there is a stereotype that women fall for men with a 'bad boy' or 'rebellious' image - and stereotypes are often based in reality!
Why women don't like shy guys.
Although women might find the idea of a modest guy who is caring and listens to them quite appealing, there are women that may find shy guys less attractive.
Here's a list of reasons why this may be the case:

Although women might find the idea of a modest guy who is caring and listens to them quite appealing, there are women that may find shy guys less attractive.
Here's a list of reasons why this may be the case:
- Insecurity: Insecurity is never much of a turn-on to the opposite sex. If you are acting like there's something you don't like about yourself, this will send out a signal to others. Appearing weak and unsure may also negatively affect the instinctive judgements that women make when assessing men as potential partners. I'm not suggesting that women are biologically predisposed to go for big, strong cavemen, but there is simply something chivalrous and reassuring about a self-assured man.
- Shy guys are less spontaneous: Women like to be swept off their feat. This may seem like a bit of a 'Mills & Boon' generalization of women, but both Hitch and Bridget Jones can't be wrong!
- Instincts: This point is kind of an elaboration on the previous two. Women tend to trust their instincts when it comes to relationships. You can analyse a romantic situation as much as you want, but the presence of a 'spark' or 'electric atmosphere' can go some way to seducing a love interest. It's difficult to create that charged connection with a woman when you're struggling behind a veil of awkwardness and hesitation.
