Dancing. Boyfriend developed a turn for himself, he twirls around fast 3 times, leaves me standing, to get out of his way. How to tell him this is not etiquette and irritates me?

Just tell him how you feel .... Why do you need special words to do that?

If you guys go out dancing and he does this, the better approach would be to work with his moves and stop getting angry. Do a move that complements his dance moves so it seems like you guys are WORKING TOGETHER. The 2nd choice is to get out of his way while he jams out.

Dancing .. Is supposed to involve a level of self expression...even in partner dancing.  I'm confused about what you mean by etiquette.  Is this a structured dance routine where self expression is not allowed?  Why don't you consider coming up with a dance move of your own to compliment his move ... That's what dancing partners do.

If you are dancing partners, then remind him of that.

If he wants to do a solo with that move---fine.

But if he wants to do that move while he is dancing with you, tell him he needs to choreograph a complementary move that is a little more useful that "Now is when you get out of the way."

... What Bikergirl said.

And just be glad he wants to go dancing at all.  Most people don't, these days.
