What's your opinion when you live with someone who doesn't want to help themselves? They've been to rehab for drug addiction and basically they don't want to change their life. Would you throw the towel in for good?

They have to want to help themselves, if they don't there's nothing more you can do. You have to make that decision on when to walk away from it.

No you shouldn't throw in the towel. I struggled for a while with a pill addiction. If this person is ready to change then they will ask for help. I wouldn't sit by their side everyday and allow them to continue to throw away their life. Let them know you love them but you will not continue to stand by and let it happen.

When they are ready to change, trust me they will come back to the person who never gave up

Tough call. I'm sure you care a lot for this person, but nothing can be more frustrating than someone who doesn't listen to good advice and keeps making the same mistakes again and again.

At a certain point, you will naturally lose patience and decide to let them get on with ruining their lives. Just watch out, it's not easy to wash your hands of someone you care about - if something bad were to actually happen to them, would you feel in someway guilty?

I think that they need to go and at least try to help themselves. Not saying that you need to throw in the towel or anything, you need to tell that person that they are the one who can change their own life. No one else can do that so they need to help themselves
