Thank you my friend. We don't wanna put in ANOTHER grand just for another grand issue to pop up. 😓😔 But I don't want to "get to know" another vehicle cuz what if it starts off with a transmission or engine problem. 😣 I don't know what to do right now. 😲 I'm so frustrated!

Long story short. Our truck is constantly having something wrong with it. But it fits the whole family and a couple of our kids friends. We actually love our truck however since 2012 we have put in a rebuilt and a new transmission, a new engine, numerous typical things such as water heater, tires, batteries, brakes, radiator, air conditioner, basically everything at least once if not more. Last major repair we basically figured everything on its new so why not. This month the dang compressor or whatever it is made the air conditioner go out again. 912.00 is what it will take to fix it. We are ready to accept defeat and throw in the towel. Would you have thrown in the towel transmissions ago? Or would you stick it through another grand? 😥😒😩

Yes thank you my friend. The mechanic just called Yang and said a customer never picked up a part for their car... it's the same part we needed! Praise the Lord. It's getting fixed for 300 now. Then if we wanna sell it, we can! Lol! It wasn't a "running" problem, it was the air conditioner problem. So it's just been one thing after another lately. Lol!

I'm guessing you're looking at around $40,000 for a NEW vehicle.

If you shop around, you may be able to find a deal on a used vehicle - but you'll want to get it checked by a reliable mechanic who will give you a list of what needs replacing (or will within a year).

Of course, what is the warranty period on everything you've had to replace?  I usually take my vehicle to a local shop that gives a 3-5 year warranty on parts, just in case something does go wrong I don't feel like an idiot having to replace it "too soon".

Thank you my friend. The first transmission was rebuilt and put in by my husband and his brother. About a year later the engine went out. We got a rebuilt one and met our mechanic who put it in for us. About a year later the transmission went out a second time. We were in a better position to take it to our mechanic. He did the second one and those two major things are still holding well. Thank you for your kind answer my friend. ☺

When a lot of things converge: Age of truck; reputation of that truck for the year built; level of aggravation; reliability (sort of a fitness for your use); how many miles you drive; your financial situation...and a few more---no simple answer, and it's all a bit of a gamble anyway.

We have a 2017 Toyota Tundra and a 2002 Ram, the latter bought for our son for college.  I drive (primarily) the Ram.  I have repairs made (if necessary) when I have the annual inspection.  I make a decision on the repairs based on a 12 month period---I'll keep repairing until that costs approaches the cost of a new car payment.  (I have bought a few used cars in the past, but only from my long time mechanic.)

Unfortunately, when to throw in the towel can only be answered definitively way after the decision has been made.

Thank you dearly my friend. We are weirdos to. There is a lot of sentiment in this truck for the Yin and Yang family. It's hard to think of selling it... but we'd make memories with another family vehicle.

You realize that my commitment to the truth requires me to ask this---are you the primary driver of this truck? lol

No... this is Yang's baby. I have to have a pillow to make me close enough to reach the pedals! Lol!

I’ve never had a used vehicle, I always thought why do I want someone’s problem.  Every vehicle has been bought new, at least it has some warranty.

Sorry you are having so many problems.
