Some people can't multitask for various reasons. Multitasking is helpful if you have a busy life and a busy schedule, as it means that you can conquer more than one of your daily tasks at once, halving the time that it would take you to do them both. It has been joked that men are unable to multitask, so perhaps this is where you have been inspired for this question.

  • Concentration

Some people lack the concentration to multitask, or they may prefer to concentrate on one thing at a time in order to ensure that it is done properly. This takes more time, but usually adds for more accuracy and detail. It is much less efficient than multitasking though. Alternatively, it can be less helpful being a perfectionist, as you may run out of time with your work.

  • Multitasking itself

It has been said that it is actually impossible to multitask. Some people, specifically younger generations, have been known to have the ability to task switch much faster than others, meaning that they believe it to be multitasking. However, they are just switching between the tasks that they are doing with much more precision.

If you are looking for ways to get things done more quickly, there is one key thing to think about: Stop procrastinating! That means sign out of Facebook, turn off that television and actually focus on what you are doing. You will find that your performance instantly improves, allowing you to get the job done quicker and better than before.

If you don't concentrate on what you are doing, you will make mistakes and perhaps end up having to do the task all over again. This is messy and annoying, which will result in more time being taken up and you having less time to move on to other tasks.
