Most psychological studies agree that all sexual fetishes are spawned in early childhood, i.e., during what's often regarded as "the formative years" during which time the foundation for the individual's lifetime psyche is laid, Child psychologists agree that this period occurs starting from birth and continues up until about the age of 5. The actual nature or type of fetish can vary, but in practically every case can be traced back to some event or sequence of events that were impressionable on the child during his or her formative years. Events that occur during the formative years are seldom reversible.    It is difficult to pinpoint a specific "trigger" event for a specific fetish, although there have been studies conducted where results were considered relevant. Most of these were the result of hypnotherapy or "truth serum" type drugs administered or conducted in a clinical setting (a doctor's office) and used to explore deep memory of events happening in the past. For the trample fetish in particular, findings, though inconclusive, suggest that during the formative years the child may have in some way been subjected to a very painful experience likely involving the foot or shoe of the same caregiver (parent, babysitter, nanny, older sibling, etc) from whom the child then subsequently receives a very loving act of contrition, such as comforting the injured child, but excessively. The child (nearly always male) in turn forms a stronger bond with the caregiver (almost always female) as a direct result of the comfort given stemming from the (accidental but sometimes brutal) injury inflicted by her (i.e., accidentally stepping on the child's finger with the heel of her shoe and substantial weight). In extreme cases the child may develop an abnormal association between pain and pleasure, for example in the case where a caregiver's affection may be so very pleasurable (post trauma) as to encourage the child to seek re-injury from the same source.
