You may bleed or have slight pain if you have sex within two weeks after having an abortion. I had sex 5 days after having the procedure and I was fine. It all depends on how you heal. If you feel back to your normal self, had no issues after the procedure, take your medications properly, and keep good hygiene, you will be fine. The longer you wait, the better, but there is a slim chance of serious problems because of having sex soon after having an abortion

I just had sex three days after having an abortion and there were no problems. I'm still taking my pills to prevent infection and of course we used protection. So I say if you feel up to it, and your not bleeding and there is no pain once so ever then you can do it (just use a condom)

I would not suggest soon after having an abortion that you have intercourse right away, its very important to let your body heal properly!!!!! If you do have intercourse too soon you may experience pain, bleeding etc.and you may also further damage yourself internally. I would ask your physician what time he/she suggests you wait.

I'm pretty sure you are supposed to wait about 10 days to prevent infection.  There are some nasty things that can happen, like PID (pelvic inflammatory disease), so rest, stay off your feet, and take good care of yourself.

And hey, Justice 14-- obviously you've never had sex, because there are a few good reasons to do it besides getting pregnant.  Hope you listen to THAT.

You could get pregnant again!

Well if you do, I would hope that you use protection. Abortion is not a method of protection in any way shape or form.

There's no point. There is no point in sexual intercourse unless you wish to become pregnant- so do not do it.Hope you listen to this.

RE: mia teeliumtrozzls. I find your sex for 'procreation purposes only' comment to be ignorant and judgmental. upon assumption of your reasoning behind sex for reproductive purposes, leads me to believe you are following some form of religious belief that pleasure = sin. Since u inadvertently demonstrated an act of judgment towards another human, is it fair to say you should practice what you preach. God taught us to be humble and kind.
