I have an acquaintance that went to school to be a vet tech. She got out of school and got a job. When she got there the job was nothing like she expected. I don't think she was prepared for the animals that came in abused, or seriously injured. Her personal experiences with her own pets had always been wellness visits or minor illnesses. She ended up taking another job with a vaccination clinic, and went back to school to learn something else.
What I suggest you do is find places where you can volunteer and get exposure to your choices and see of they are really what you want to do.
