Is it ethical for controversial subject matter to be depicted in shows geared towards children? I vote yes, I just wanted to know everyone's opinions.

It totally depends on the nature of the "controversial matter".

Some would argue that a show about evolution was controversial. Their opposites would cringe at the idea of showing kids stories a bout "God" and presenting him as actually existing. Others would object to shows about drug use, or sex, or *gasp* homosexuality.

Basically, I think all subjects are valid but if they're going to be screened when kids are watching they need to be done with the age, and the suggestibility of the audience in mind.

I'm doing a debate on this in my advanced English class. I'm mostly focusing on same sex couples being in the shows, I believe that it is fine. There is nothing you need to hide from children.. With things like same sex couples, it's better for children to see them being openly accepted..
