Maybe a nice smile and a quick conversation about something you're both interested in might break the ice and then you'll see if both of you are interested in each other. Some boys are a little shy when it comes to talking with girls, so you'll probably have to take the first step with an innocent conversation and then take things from there. Good luck.

The best way is to start with saying hi. Follow that with a possible compliment or ask about a popular event that was in your area. For example, several weeks ago, there was a concert for a rapper, God help us, that several friends I knew attended. You would be surprised at the common ground you can find. Believe it or not, my relationship with my wife started with an algebra equation. Best of luck on your endeavor.
