This is not an insult BUT I heard this person laugh so odd ( like a snort ).. In the movie today. It was very irritating. Can a person learn to laugh differently if they tried?

No, it is something that just comes naturally. I am sure the person would change it if they could, because I am sure you are not the first person to notice it. I didn't like my laugh so I tried to keep it quieter when I was in high school. Then someone told me I laughed like Smedly the Dog (from the Chilly Willy cartoons- yes I am old.) I quit trying to change it that day.

That was really a great answer.
I sort of felt sorry for the person. I used to laugh too much but I worked on it and learned to laugh at funny things. Its hard to make changes. I like this site pretty well.

This site seems alright, and I am getting use to it. It just seems to have less questions coming in. Maybe that will change as more of the "askugees" come over.

There's a focused psychology about laughs. We have so many type of laughing & usually even laughs are signs of knowing part of someone's personality. And it's an automatic preference but it can be changed. Almost every points like this in human can be changed by practice.

Proper practice & controlling it, applying the new actions until they become habit & once it becomes a habit it will stay with you forever unless you try to re-change it again.

I don't really have background to answer but I should think that if a person came to realise that their laughter sounded odd to others, they might try to change it.

I'm not sure if they'd be successful when  confronted by something unexpectedly funny, though.

My mother-in-law was only 4'10" tall (if she'd been taller she'd have taken over the world) and was deadly afraid of dogs. Once, when she visited, she got out of the car and my neighbour's dog, a big German Shepherd, bounded down the drive, put its paws on her shoulders, looked her in the eye, and woofed a friendly, "Hello!"

I couldn't help laughing as I ran down to pull the dog back, and I don't think she ever forgave me. :(

I bet she did not laugh very loud at that. More like a scream. 📢😁
Thanks

I shouldn't have laughed either. She was terrified. But it was a lovely dog and it did look funny.

I was talking about being scared of the dog not you laughing. I am scared of them also.
