I honestly feel like it's like this because girls tend to be a bit more polite and nice on average and guys to take this as a sign that they like him when that's not the case. But that's just how I feel. I'm not exactly sure why they think this way but I do understand that it does get annoying. And it's not all guys who do this. Just the ones with really big heads who think that they're a real catch.
