I think that he's just being friendly. Unless he starts to do something that shows that he's actively trying to imply something, just regard it as him being a nice person and doing a neighborly thing. We don't want to assume things until they are proven true. I like giving people the benefit of the doubt. It helps so then you don't make false accusations.
