If you guys are going out, you should say a heck of a lot more than just hi! It sounds like you guys aren't actually going out and are just crushing on each other. Maybe you should talk to him about that and actually get to know each other as if you two are going out. To me, it seems that you're being awkward which is strange/unhealthy for a relationship.
