I used to accept right away, but now am leery of doing so because of some of the trickery of people who have been kicked off the site, and then they come back and are mean to you out of the blue. I now have a closed shout box, and will only accept friends when they are clearly participating with the site. Sad to have to do it this way.
I like to read their bio first or what some of their interests are to see if we have similar ones. I'm pretty open though, and will try maintaining friendships from a variety of people from all walks of life. If that person does something to offend me or another blurtit friend of mine, I will reconsider that friendship and may delete them from my friends list.
I'm new here, but with all other places online that you can add friends,I used to add whoever asked but with problems of people not being who they say they are or of seeming to be of a nature that would had something to your life only to see after a short time they were only scooping for something wrong.I now these days will add someone who through their answers seem to have a sense of being themselves and can express themselves in what they write or how they answer.
First rule, No Baby Blurters, They must take enough interest in the site to rise above that status first.
Second rule, No avowed Athiests, Devil worshippers, or the like, People may believe what they wish but I don't want them on my Friends List.
Third and Last rule, No Smart Mouthed Children with No respect for their Elders, These BRATS are very aggravating and should find a more suitable pasttime then making insulting comments on Blurtit.

I welcome all, and have met several nice people that way.
I used to take very long time in making friendship with others. I specifically see their other friends in their profiles and after then only I choose them as friends
I agree quite a bit with Debossman on this (must be the Scot in us). I like to wait until someone has been around a little while plus I look at their questions and answers to see what I think. I am pretty open minded.
I choose people who are in my age group and who have similar interests. Had to delete a few recently as they were not as they first seemed.
I accept nearly every request I receive, but I have no idea who they are or why they send me the requests.
No rules, just accept all friends that request a friendship to me, I am open to making any kind of friends.
