It depends on how big your breasts are. If your nipples start to make a pointy shape underneath your shirt you will need one.

Exactly - I resently noticed when I wore a thinner shirt to school that my boobs where A bit pointy .. You know you need a padded bra then. Just not the thick lining.
And remember to measure yourself or have someone do it for you. :)
