What Age Should Kids Wear Padded Bras?

There is no 'right age' for when kids should start wearing padded bras. Some of this will depend on when the girl starts developing (usually around the age of 12) and how the parents feel about the situation. The benefits of padded bras are that they can help maintain a girl’s confidence in herself, offer shape to a developing woman and that they are often considered more comfortable than other types of bra. As far as age is concerned, the issue comes down to whether the girl in particular wants a padded bra and whether her parents agree to allowing her to have one. Sometimes, peer pressure or a sense of failure over her own development may inspire her to want a padded bra and it will be difficult to decide if the comfort and physiological benefits of fitting in is worth it.
Some parents feel that allowing girls to wear padded bras either post or pre-puberty can place too much emphasis on the body and validate the idea that a girl is meant to value herself on her shape or figure more so than on her other qualities. However ,it is also true that many times feeling out of place or 'under' developed can lead to greater physiological concerns and many feel the social problems associated with a young girl’s development are a greater risk or problem than issues of placing prominence on the body.
It is good to have a healthy concern over our own bodies and it is not necessarily wrong to be concerned over our own development. However, if parents are concerned about the level of importance a child is placing on her body image then a padded bra may be the wrong move.

Hi everyone! I am going to be 13 soon and I started wearing a padded bra just this year. You know that you are ready for one when you start to outgrow, or look a little pointy, in your unpadded bra. Everyone goes through it and it is nothing to be embarrassed about. When I told my Mom I was pretty nervous. I have 2 older sisters so that made me feel better about telling her because I know they had to go through the same thing. I was at the store with my mom when suddenly I said, "Mom, let's go to the underwear section next okay?" and she asked me why and I told her I think I needed some new bras. She said it was absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about. So girls, don't be afraid. Your mom has gone through the same thing when she was a child. She will totally understand. Until then, I am always there with you!

Well if you are about 11 or 12 then I'd say you are about ready to get a padded bra.But only if you have started developing. If you are 11 or 12 and completely flat-chested(don't worry if you are, you'll get them someday!)then it will look kinda ridiculous. For instance,if you are a size 36A and you are 12 then you are probably very tall for your age.But if you are 30AA and 12 then you are probably very short for your age.So thats why it would look ridiculous if you were a very short gal wearing a padded bra.It would also look very silly if you haven't started developing your womanly curves yet.I also suggest that you buy a lightly lined bra or a unlined bra.(there's a lot of those kinds at Victoria'sSecret Pink and Target)I think that they would fit the best but you should try on many bras until you find a comfy fit.Well have a great time shopping for some bras and I hope my advise helped!

Every one is different so you can wear one when every you feel like. I'm 13 and I only just started needing to wear bras a few weeks ago. It also depend on how comfortable it is and if you want to have a better shape. If you are fairly flat then you could wear one, it doesn't really matter what age you wear it at. And be happy with yourself!!!!!

Between 9 and 14. Puberty can begin as early as 8, but you shouldn't jump into a padded bra.
Wear a trainer bra for a while. These are good because they are practaically crop tops in the front, but have proper adjustable straps and latches to the rear.
Once this starts to grow too small, either get a larger soft bra or a padded bra. You may want to stick with soft ones for a while, as for the first few years of puberty, you may grow every 6 months. Padded bras would be slightly more expensive than trainer bras, so it would save you money and maybe keep you more comfortable for a while.

If you are, say 13 and don't wear ANY bra because you don't need one, I would reccomend getting a soft, cottong AA or A cupped bra. You should also consider something of this size before moving to Secondary School, as you will be getting changed in an all girl environment and may feel more comfable with one.

If you are, say 9, and need a padded bra, don't hide from the fact. You may be different from your peer group, but you only need to feel comfortable in yourself.

You shouldn't rely on internet sources for information. Go to you mum or any other close female relative for advice. They will be able to tell you about their expericene - early bloomers tend to run in the family.

Where one after you have a rounded boob. Don't were one just when it gets pointy because you maybe still be small and look dumb with it. You may not feel more comfortable in a padded bra because then you look really big. And for the girls who have popular girls in there school who have huge boobs   don't worry because after a while guys will find out they are fake and make fun of her. And don't mAKE such a big deal over it.. And if your afraid girls will call you slutty for wearing a padded bra when you need one ignore them. And for girls who want one to look big, forget it. Get one as late as possible they are uncomfortable. If you want one because your pointy you don't need a big padded one. Go to justice and get one they kinda look like the training ones but have a little padding to soften it out. I recomemmend them!!!

I think it is up to you I am 12 now well just turned and this year I have had a proper padded bra...really it depends on when you feel ready to.Just ask your mum they don't mind these things if you have an older sister she will be used to it so it might be easier go ahead. Also if your not sure what size you are then go to M&S clothing and they will do a bra fitting for free for you !!

I think about 11 or 12.  I am 12 and I am getting one.  I'm pretty small for my age though. I guess everyone is different.  All girls seem like they want to grow up so fast.  Seriously though. How can an 8 year old have a bra?!?!

At my school you can't tell who really needs a bra because some kids stuff their bras. I think you should start wearing a padded bra when your boobs start to jiggle.

To above: Hey!! Padded bras do not look ridiculous on those of us with 30 band sizes. I'm 5'4", the average height for a woman, and am a 30DD.

If you're very small or very large, padded bras may look ridiculous and be uncomfortable. If you're in the middle somewhere, go for it; they can also provide extra uplift. There's no set age when you should be wearing a padded bra; it depends on your development.

I am a dancer and I got my first padded bra a few months ago. Don't be nervous to ask your mum because they have been through it and they know what it is like. I am a 32a and my best friend is flat and she is 14 so there is no real age it is just the way your body works if it developes fast then so if it developes slow then so. Don't rush any thing because once you get them sometimes you don't want them. Be a kid while you can.

I got my first bra when I was in Year 5 (even though I didn't need it) and started to wear padded bras in Year 7 to give my breas more shape (as, really, they don't have any. I'm flat chested- at breast bud stage even though I got my period 2 years ago. It's a mystery to me???).
Padded bras make me feel more comfortable as everyone else my age (I'm going into year 8 this September) has big breasts, some are B or even C cups!!!
The boys at my school are very "observant" of a girl's chest area and I hate the thought of someone staring at me then laughing because I have no breasts.
Basically a girl COULD wear a padded bra when they feel comfatable of doing so but if no one else in there class wear's one it's pointless and attention-seeking. It's a COULD not a SHOULD.
Padded bras are used to make a girl feel more "normal" or "regular". They should not be used to make them stand out or be made to grow up too quickly. Let them move at their own pace and take it from there.

Anyway I really want a padded one because both my friends have them. I'm going to ask again when I'm 11 in 6th grade. I'm 11 in september so its not far off I really hope she changes her mind! Fingers crossed for me and anyone else asking your mum!

I am 10 and I wear a padded bra. When I wear a padded bra my breasts look big,   but when I don't wear a padded bra my boobs look pointy and I feel weird. I wear 30a in padded bras.   you should start wearing a padded bra when your boobs are pointy. Otherwise, Stage 3 is when you should consider it!

I think you should start wearing a padded bra when you feel your ready. I started at age twelve but any age is ok. I think you should wear one lighted padded because from a normal bra to a padded one is a big difference in appearance. Hope I helped :D

I think you you get a bra when you are ready. I am 13 and got my first bra when I was 8. I was so ready for it. I was flat but I wanted one so badly. It was a plain training bra. I loved it. Now I wear a cup bra sized 34 A with light padding. Every girl is a little different but I think age 12-13 is reasonable for a padded bra.

I think age 12 is the best age to get a padded bra. But if you are only developed alittle bit then you should wear a crop top or a training bra.

When you think youre ready. Maybe you need the support or your nipples are showing or whatever youre reason. But if you just one because, I don't know. It depends on how bad you want it. I guess if you're 11 or 12, I won't say grades because at my school, 11 and 12 is fifth grade, but anyway 11 or 12, if you're totally flat, get a very light padded.  My friend is still 10  somehow, but she's tall but flat, I used to think she has little boob and wore a training bra but she wears a padded  bra and has no boob at so, padded bras definaltly help that

Well I think when you should get a padded bra is when your 11! And also when you feel you really need it! Because sometimes a nonpadded bra could show your nipple and I know you ppl don't want your nipples to show! So I perfer when you actually grow them! That would be a great choice! Well I'm going to start wearing one! But I hope I helped to all you wonderful ppl out there!

When my daughter started wearing bras, I bought her ones that were lightly padded, so that she would have a little shape. So many girls are blossoming earlier than her,and this just gives her added self confidence without looking fake.

Sad that your little girl has such a fragile identity that she needs to rely on breast size for confidence.
Someone needs to explain to her that when her breasts get attention from boys, it is not because they like her. It sounds like she does not have a father living in the house. If he is not around to explain this to her, perhaps there is an uncle or grandfather around who can explain this to her.
