According to a Pew Research poll (they are considered to be very reputable) 77% of French people believe homosexuality should be accepted in society compared to only 60% of Americans. The Pew Research believes this is directly correlated with religion.
France has a long history of being liberal in terms of LGBTQPA+ rights. All anti-sodomy laws were repealed during the French Revolution in 1791. There have been laws preventing discrimination of the LGBTQPA+ community in France since 1985. Same sex marriage was legalize in 2013. France is considered to be one of the most gay friendly countries in the world.
