Why are people against gay marriage? I respect everyone's opinion, I'm just curious as I don't understand why anyone would be against it.

I'm probably going to make an enemy or two here. You have to define what "marriage" is, and why the word "marriage" is so important to some people. For a thousand years, "marriage" was the union between a man and a woman. That is a lot of tradition, custom and history. If two people of the same sex wish to commit to a long-term relationship, that is good, but it IS new and old fogeys like me find it hard to see it as marriage (with all that that entails in a mixed-sex relationship).

hey and personally i agree with you , what is so bad gay marriage ? , many people now are eventually accepting gay marriage and some are beginning to come out about being homosexual. I think the fact many people dont agree with it is the fact , of traditional reasons , and religions , i am christian yet i am for gay rights , i think that it is fine to be homosexual , this doesnt change the person its just a part of them . Yet many religions are against it as they think it is sinful and not right . I think that although people may not personally like gays but i think that they should respect them for their choice.

Its not exactly that most don't accept it as its the fact that we are being forced to accept it whether we agree or not. Its that forcing of it upon us that people hate and by Nature will usually rebel against it
