First, understand he is not doing it on purpose.  Time and patience will serve you best.  Under no circumstances try to shame him out of it!  Let him know that you love him and understand he has a problem. Try to work with him (and his suggestions) to find a solution together.

Thanks for the suggestion but we've tried this. We even set his alarm clock for the middle of the night and he sleeps right through it.

My brother had the same problem and they tried everything including taking away drinks after a certain hour. They eventually took one thing away at a time looking for food and drink allergies. They found out he was allergic to apples and as soon as they took away all forms of apples in his diet he quit wetting the bed.

Interesting solution. I never gave it a thought that allergies could be the problem. Thanks for the idea.

I have dealt with the problem before and first the bathroom should be the last thing before bed,you should get him up during the night to use the bath room these kids are hard sleepers and just don't wake up when they have to go,so start getting him up during the night to use the bathroom, and make sure he uses it because sometimes they go and just stand in there make sure he uses it, and than back to bed praise him the nights he does not wet the bed, some Drs. Say it is nerves but if you keep getting him up and work with him it will stop, good luck......

Cut out all water before bed. Reward him on mornings when he wakes up dry. Go in the middle of the night and wake him to use the restroom.

Set an alrm for you as well, he is going to need some help, if he can sleep through wetting the bed he can sleep through an alarm!

Get him to bed at an early time so he's not so exhausted. No drinks after 6pm, and go before going to bed.

They make pull ups for his age until you can figure out the issues. Just for bed time.

My son has the same problem and he will be 10 in August ... Pullups are not a solution, because they rely on those then, we used them for a while until I realized he was relying on them... And he also goes to bed at a early time and the bathroom is the last thing he does before he goes to bed also

Take him to see the doctor about this, they make medicine for it now, and I hear it works real well. Hope this helps, good luck to you and your son.

Have taken him to doctor and discussed medication. We would prefer to not use meds. Have heard that when person stops taking that problem starts again.
