Should You Travel A Long Distance To Attend Friends Funeral?

That all depends upon how far away the funeral is, and how good a friend the person was to you.
A funeral is a way to have some closure to a death. Some people want to "remember the deceased the way they were." Others want to have that final closure experience.
I would probably go to a funeral of a good friend, no matter how far away.
