Mijikai ita ni mai

Back in the days we were still using DOS I built a spreadsheet for one of the Japanese girls in the office. She completely stuffed it and I had to sort her out. She was so grateful that she said, "How can I ever thank you?" So I wrote something on a piece of paper and said translate that into Japanese.

She was bewildered because it didn't mean anything to her but her boss, who had been in Oz long enough to pick up the slang, was rolling about laughing. "Mijikai ita ni mai" is Japanese for "two short planks".

Around our place nobody is ever stupid. They're just a bit mijikai.
