Maybe he just has something he wants to talk about with you is all. Doesn't sound like anything to be confused about. He also didn't say that it was about you and him, did he ? He might want to talk about just about anything. I wouldn't worry about it.

When boys say "I love you" they are usually diffusing a pending bad situation. Its said to throw you off guard after giving you a small warning about whats to come. By your first words that "youre confused" shows me that it worked so far for him but just be prepared for whatevers to come from him, and watch him talk with a forked tongue like the American Indians use to say.
