When you truly love someone and they die or you separate, the only sure thing to heal your pain is time. Nothing else will.

You concentrate on yourself for a change, heal yourself, then when you're not expecting it, the love of your life will come sweep you off your feet.

You cry for a bit. You eat some ice cream. Then you get up and dust yourself off and put one foot in front of the other, and move on.

The more time we spend with someone the closer we become. Which is why workplace romance is so common. Now that you have more time on your hands it feels like an empty spot in your life. Because it really is. You simply need to occupy some of it, not all of it, with something creative. Reading is one of the simplest ways to pass time without wasting it. You might try reading aloud even if the only other one there is your memory. Watching TV, movies, and videos don't really work since they do not engage the mind so much.  And if you feel guilty just remember they would not have wanted you to feel bad right?

Another good first step is to make a gesture of closure. Like saying good bye, and thanking your loved one, in a nice letter. Then, in order to send it on its way, you burn it and watch the smoke rise into the air. It doesn't matter whether or not you believe in any afterlife, or even if it is just a break up. This is simply a way for YOU to show your love and appreciation for the good memories to someone who is gone but not forgotten.

Then go, and live some more.

One step at a time, some days will be worse than others but it will get easier in time.  If you can get out and about with other people that's going to make you feel better, sitting home and just letting it eat away at you will only prolong the misery.

You will get over this I promise!
