I used to work with a guy called Eno's (after Eno's Fruit Salts) because "He knows everything." The annoying thing about it was that he really did. He had a wonderful range of knowledge and practical skills and he didn't mind helping anybody out. Good man. Bloody annoying at times.

There was this very funny story (Whirrrrr, pop!) that would take a bit of telling (and I'm just cooking lunch) but I might add it later.

Lunch was delicious.

Eno's was walking to the railway station one Saturday morning and saw his neighbour starting his new petrol-driven lawn mower. As he pulled the cord the mower would go, "Whirrrr, pop!" then nothing. As Eno's went down the street he heard it a couple more times, but then he was gone.

Several hours later when he came home he turned into his street and heard, "Whirrrr, pop!" and stopped to talk to his neighbour who said, "Bill, thank God you're there. I can't get this bloody mower to start."

Why not? The thing had come with a cork stuffed into the exhaust to stop any foreign objects falling in during manufacture and transportation. Every time he tried to start the mower the engine would whir and the gases would blow the cork out, like a kids pop gun. Dutifully he'd pick it up, put it back in, and try again. He wasted the whole morning doing that.

Used to have a guy that lived across the street from me that everyone called " The Legend " ! He knew everything about everything. If I was in the front yard doing something, he would have to come over and tell me a better way to do it ! Lived with his Mom all his life. They moved out a couple of years ago and I don't know how to do anything now ! I sure miss him! NOT ! I think we all know at least one.

Nope.  If they know everything, they know too much ... And have to be eliminated.

Yep, a brother-in-law. He doesn't get invited to many family functions any longer.

My relatives for the most part, are idiots, and (to their credit) blissfully so. My friends are smart enough to know they don't know everything, and my wife and kids usually ask me if they don't know something.

I've met many who act as though they know everything, only to deny once they stood openly accused of it.

My dad knows A LOT about A LOT! It has its advantages and its downside. His five kids know whow to reel him in, but at parties we often have to go rescue some poor unsuspecting soul.

It is my forever-faithful friend, the library website.  It has LOTS of e-encyclopaedias on it, as well as a wealth of knowledge on almost any subject you can think of.
