Wow! That's a long time. Thanks, Cookie. Hope you are doing okay. I know you are on a personal journey, and I do hope you find what you are looking for. Keep your chin up, and put one foot on front of the other. You can do it.

I have an oil panting that my dad gave me when I was a young lad. He won it in a crap game on the ship carrying him home when WWII ended. It's framed and hanging in my living room.

I'll have to admit! I still have my bald teddy bear with all the stitches in it from my Mom sewing it and putting it back together ! Geez, from the 50's ! Total antique but precious to me. I can see it from where I'm sitting as it's on a shelf !

I had a stuffed panda bear that my Grandmother gave me many years ago. Back in the day when you were allowed unlimited things on the airplane, she gave each of us five kids a big stuffed animal. She stuffed them all in the overhead compartments - there were many laughs on the plane when she went to pull them all down and had to explain they weren't for her but for her grandkids.

Fast forward to my leaving home to go to college three states away. The bear sat in the front seat in my dad's truck. When we got to our destination, we stayed overnight at my grandmother's house (not the grandmother that gave me the stuffed bear). She declared the bear was dirty from the trip up. She tromped downstairs to her ancient washing machine to wash the bear.

She then took the bear outside and hung it on the clothes line by its ears so it could dry in the sun. Her elderly neighbor knocked on her back door to see if grandma was okay because she saw a bear on the clothes line and couldn't figure out what was up.

I laughed so hard I had to leave the house. It was nice of the neighbor to check on my grandma, but the circumstances were hilarious as the neighbor thought my grandma was losing her mind.

Thank you, Danae. That made me belly laugh just imagining the neighbor looking out and seeing that!!!!

I never laughed so hard. Of course, my grandmother didn't see the humor; she was a clean freak and if the bear was going to be in her house, it had to be clean. So this made perfect sense she would wash and dry the bear. I will never forget the look on the neighbor's face when she asked, "Frances, is everything ok?"
