Are You A Good Neighbor? Or Do You Avoid Contact?

I always introduce myself to our new neighbors. It's a lot easier to break the ice right off the bat than put it off. They may wonder why you waited so long!! Not a great way to make a good first impression. We know most of the people on our block. We are frequent visitors to probably half of them. But I'm really outgoing when it comes to starting a conversation so I make an effort to do more than just wave or smile. People are so different yet we're all - or most - the same in that we thrive on friendship and communication. At least that's the way I see it. Call me naive or idealistic if you must but just try and stop me!!

Sometimes being a good neighbor is staying out of people's business. I have a neighbor who does nothing but start trouble and starts rumors  about everyone. I am friendly but not overly. I don't want to gossip with these people.

I believe I'm a good neighbor, but the people who live next door to me are crazy. They drink til they throw up or start fighting, they do coke, steal, and just last night a 15 y/o girl goes in there after 12 pm and spends the night with a man who is 28 y/o. I totally avoid contact with those people. I have children and hey don't need to see those types of things!

I know our neighbors within a half-block both ways from our house and try being friendly and helpful as a neighbor should be. I think it is good to be available to help or just to have a friendly conversation when you see each other in passing. You don't have to be too involved with their lives to be a busy-body and if some of your neighbors want to keep to themselves, you should respect their wishes but still wave at them if you see them.

Both. I don't go out of my way to know anyone, but if someone needs a helping hand, I'll be glad to help if I can. I don't care to be 'close' to anyone I live near, because then it seems they become involved in your business. If I don't know them, then I won't feel like I need to include them in any aspects of my life.

I'm both. It really depends if someone looks approachable.

My last neighbor passed away recently, I had only met her once since we moved in here. Our new neighbors though, I haven't met him or her, but my fiance has.

I avoid contact because I've just never been a people's person . I'll say I'm a bad neighbor

I am a good neighbor. But, sometimes I do avoid contact, because sometimes you just don't want to be bothered.

I'm a good neighbor but I also avoid contact cause they talk too much sometimes and you can't get them to stop

You should always be friendly to your neighbors because they are someone that you could always rely on if there's something that's needed to be done and it easy for them because they are close to home.

I love people I recently move and it was only a few blocks away and I had friends that actually cried I believe in loving my neighbors. People who need people are the luckiest people in the world.

My neighbors & I get along real good. We party all the time & there is never any problems.
