Most people with a drug or alochol problem don't think they have a problem, The first step is convincing them that they do, and that it is effecting there health, and changing there personality for the worse. If you can't make them see that, then there is not much you can do, as they need to admit they have a problem and need help, before anyone has got a chance of helping them.

Help them resolve the anger, depression, or other emotional issues that lead to self-abuse and denial in the first place. EFT (see www.eftuniverse.com) can be helpful for that.
