Can someone please explain to me why a tonsillectomy in a child is less likely to involve complications then the same procedure for an adult?

I would hazard a guess and say that all operations are less likely to involve complications in a child than an adult simply because a childs body is "more perfect" that is it has not had the time to develop flaws and other illnesses as an adults has. But maybe someone else has a better explanation.
