Dear Guest,

It means that whoever called you that is an idiot or a moron who should be ignored.  Generic comes from the word "genus."  Words like "general" as in the expression "in general" or "generality" meaning a non-specific example of something come from "genus."

In Biology, plants and animals are classified using a multi-tiered classification system.  The classification "genus" comes before "species" which is where the word "specific" comes from.  "Genus" is general, and "Species" is specific.

So to try to insult someone by calling him "generic" only shows the name-caller's ignorance.

I hope this answer helped you.
