No. She could have given you a ride if she was going there anyway.

Exactly! but she thought it was okay to leave me hanging I guess but I'm no longer friends with her because she was never there when I needed help.

Why should she give you a free ride?

How did you expect to get home after the interview?  Were you going to wait around 8 hours for her to get done with her job?  I highly doubt it.

And it's not her fault you missed the interview.  It is completely your fault.  You could have walked, biked, taken a bus, taken a cab/Uber.

I think you could have at least asked where I'm from first instead of jumping to conclusions. We don't have a bus cab or Uber where I'm from and it was too far to walk. It' wouldn't have been safe you know.

Why do you have to depend on other people? You should have prepared yourself much early for that interview. Don't hold people responsible for your benefit.

What do you mean prepare myself much early? I was prepared because I asked for a ride ahead of time. If it was the other way around I would never left her knowing she needed a way.

How much did your friend want for gas?

Your priority should have been getting to the interview.

You could have decided later whether or not she was a "real" friend or not later.

And her desire for compensation may be part of her personality and an expectation on her part.

If it is, then you need to accept that or not ask her for favors again---and then decide what kind of "friend" she is.
