Well, happy birthday to you Chewed. I guess the homemade gifts that I gave my mom were the best. She always seemed to smile from ear to ear when she got them.

My son and his wife invited me to spend Mother's Day with them in Washington DC several years ago. We had so much fun. They planned out all sorts of activities they knew I would like. It mean a lot to me! My Mom died when I was 18 .. Before I really appreciated her. I don't remember anything really special that I did for her .. Except getting her jewelry that she liked.Â

I am a step-mom to an adult daughter I did not raise and lives on the complete opposite coast, so I am happy with a text or a card. As for a gift, I am taking my mom to the spend a few days on the beach.

When the kids were growing up it was every handmade gift that they gave me, they also made me breakfast in bed every year. As adults it's taking me out and spending time with me. Usually over lunch during the week after.
I'm not sure which gift my mother appreciated the most. If she's at all like my grandmother, she probably has them all in the closet, unused.
