Have you ever been Homeless? First time about 6 yrs ago. I was terrified and scared. It lasted a day.
No. Fortunately I've never been homeless.
No, but my husband and I had to move into my mother's house for about 9 months.
I've never been homeless. I can't even imagine what that must be like.
Yes, I was 16. My mother was living in Europe with her husband and my father moved with his new wife up North. They thought they'd have to live in a tent and didn't think they could provide for me.
I lived in an abandoned shed, and got a job within days. After a month I moved in with friends in a house. I was homeless off and on for 2 years. I always had work but my roommates were usually not as dependable and we'd end up homeless. I finally got a job in a resort hotel and made enough to have my own apartment. I was too busy surviving to be scared, I didn't have the luxury. I was more lonely. I got an infection during that time and almost died. I almost bled out. I remember my last thought before I passed out was, "I could die right now and no one would know." I almost died alone.
I went to school full time and worked. Hoping I could get ahead. I finally did, and as they say the rest is history. This is why I have a soft spot for those who are in need. The homeless, abused children, abandoned or abused animals, the mentally ill, at risk teens. I know what it's like to be down on your luck and have no one who cares. That time in my life to this day haunts me, but it made me a strong little dragonfly. I'm a tough one with a caring heart.
Nope, never have. I doubt it would happen because I have enough people I know who would let me live with them if I actually did lose my house.
Yes I have ...when I was very young and that's all I have to say about that:) I'll never be homeless again though so it's fine.
No, I haven't been.
When my step father passed away from cancer (breadwinner of our house) and his relatives took the house away (for some reason I don't understand), my mother and I were alone and we lived in a cheap hotel for a few days. After that, we didn't have anywhere else to stay, so I'd say were were truly homeless for a couple hours... Until my biological father came through and he kindly let us stay with him for a while. Eventually, he actually bought us a house! I was 10 at the time.
