I understand love - every time I look in a mirror.......
yeah.
I used to echo your sentiments. I got a clear definition of what love is from the greatest book ever written., the bible. It tells us at 1 Corinthians 13:4-8: "Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous. It does not brag, does not get puffed up, does not behave indecently, does not look for its own interest, does not become provoked. It does not keep account of injury.........It nears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails! When I look for these qualities in others and work at displaying them myself. I found love in all the relationships that I had. Hope this is helpful
Well, I've got 51 years more experience than you and I have to say that I think I've got a pretty good handle on the concept.
Fortunately, my wife and children and most of my friends would agree with that statement.
Love is both art and science and it is something that you do.
The Art of Loving by Erich Fromm is a good book for getting a model to work with. He speaks of "care, respect, responsibility, and knowledge" as elements of love.
There are other good ones (books as well as ideas).
There are all different types of love.
