Both Parents - Should train their Children from Infancy;

The fruitage of the belly is a reward; (Ps 127:3),  So, it is no surprise then, when parents greet the arrival of a newborn with great joy.

However, along with joy, the birth of a child brings serious responsibilities.  If the child is to take a firm stand in life, he will need mental, physical, moral and sprirtual nourishment from parents.  When should such training begin, and what should it include?

How early should child training begin? "From infancy".  It is wise for Christian parents to pray for guidance and to plan ahead so that they can begin to train their child "from infancy".  "The plans of the diligent surely make for advantage".  Before the arrival of their baby, the parents will no doubt prepare carefully.  They may even have a checklist of items that the baby will need.  It is also important for them to plan for spiritual acitivites.  Their goal should be to start such training in the baby's life.  Early child training produces good fruitage.

We certainly want our children to grow up to be responsible individuals.  However, our primary reason for training them is to foster love for God in their heart.....(Mark 12:28-30)

"Sons Are Like Arrows"

"Like arrows in the hand of a mighty man, so are the sons of youth".  Children are thus likened to arrows that should be accurately aimed at the target.  An archer can never recall an arrow once it leaves his bow.  Parents have "arrows" - their children- for only a comparatively brief period of time.  That time should be used to install principles in the mind and heart of their children.

We certainly want our children to grow up to be responsible individuals.  However, as parents our primary reason for training them is to foster love for God in their heart.

I have been working in child care for the past 20 years. One commonality that we all share is that no matter what your  age, you have the right to be heard, listened to and validated for your feelings. We should never have a dismissive attitude toward children we want to build their character and inquisitive nature, not stunt it. When Jesus was on earth his disciples tried to stop the little children from approaching Jesus. He responded by saying:  "Let the little children come to me, the kindom of God belongs to such like ones".  He set a fine example for us all, parent or not to respect, love and nuture children.
