I've had tinnitus for many years now as it is an effect of having Meniere's disease. That's an inner ear problem that causes dizziness, loss of balance and tinnitus. I've tried more things than you can imagine but have never found anything that worked. Two or three different ENT doctors and even natural medicines. Nothing worked. I've just had to learn to live with it as best I can. Good luck !
I was diagnosed with tinnitus about 3 months ago. My doctors are in the process of testing now. I've had a thorough hearing test, xrays, blood tests, etc. The next step is an MRI. Doc said there is no known cure or treatment. I can hear high tones at 100% but mid and low tones are at a 50% loss.
I am aware of it but I don't suffer from it. Unfortunately I don't know how to cure it either :(
Don't have it. Sometimes it goes away on its own accord and sometimes its chronic. Its often caused by the damage of loud sounds, so avoid loud noises.
I've heard meds can aggravate the condition, aspirin being one of them.
In the quiet of the night, when you are trying to sleep you can probably hear the ringing as being more pronounced. Some people find solace by using white noise distractions being played. There are soothing ( quiet ) players that will distract you and play sounds of waterfalls, crickets and such.
Aware of it; don't have it.
However, while browsing "tinnitus" some years ago on the internet, I found out that William Shatner (Star Trek's Captain Kirk) has had it for many years.
In some article, he mentioned a doctor whom he was seeing in California that managed to help him with the problem---whether it was help coping or mitigating the symptoms.
I mention this only to perhaps give you a new search angle for more information.
I've got it ..have had it for years .. Learned to live with it.
My husband has it and it really effects his hearing. They haven't been able to fix his, but for awhile in the beginning he could manipulate his neck a certain way to minimize it. His is due to when he broke his jaw.
I get it from time to time and it is usually when I am stressed or if I lean my head back. It rarely bothers me though.
