In my opinion Plenty of Fish is probably the best dating/marriage website out there and is available in many countries which is also helpful.
There are no hidden costs on Plenty of Fish, so you can join and message anyone for free.
I find it annoying when you join a website and then have to pay to read any messages that are sent to you. They have you over a barrel, either pay up or maybe miss out on Mr/Miss right (and look very rude in the eyes of the person who has messaged).
Plenty of Fish also have a phone app which is great for when you aren't home or near your PC.
Most of the people you will 'meet' on there are very nice, but please remember that it is easy to hide behind a profile so be careful.
If you do meet someone, arrange to meet somewhere public, preferably during the day. If in doubt, either take a friend or follow your gut instinct and cancel.
Another tip is to get a friend to call after about an hour. If you are bored to tears and the date isn't for you, just claim it is an emergency. You then have an excuse to leave without offending your date ;-)
