My ex died a few years ago.  My oldest boy notified me.  I didn't ask where she was being buried; he didn't volunteer.

My happiness did not require a visit to a cemetary.

Apparently what you did was a wise choice on your part and resonated certainly at least with what you thought to be appropriate for you to do.
