I'm all in favour but there are a few obstacles still to overcome.

The biggest hurdle -- Tony Abbott -- lost his mojo when he was deposed as prime minister; yet his legacy remained.

Turnbull (his successor) dissolved both houses of parliament hoping to get a majority in the senate but ended up with worse figures than before. He's trying to avoid a parliamentary vote that will cost conservative votes, though he appears to support gay marriage.

Shorten, the opposition leader, is now in a position to force through a parliamentary vote. It could go either way but the conservatives still hold power in Canberra and may be able to forestall it.

The same way I feel about it in other places. I feel two people who are in love should be allowed to marry , regardless of gender, race, or any other thing that others may consider an obstacle. If they feel they can overcome it, why should anyone else think they have a right to deny them.
