Example, lets say my name is Jan Nicka (Not my real name or a nickname).

I have a childhood nickname "Janny", later a teen or high school "Nicka", then there's a college one "JNick", later when you start to work Jan and depending on ppl you meet you may give them a variation of your name or initials "JN" or "JNicka".

I have and had several nicknames by different friends. Matt, Mr.Nice guy, Sweet talker, some used to call me 3 centimeter, cause i was shorter than them. The most famous nickname i've ever had was "Ricky" once my soccer coach called me Ricky because he believed my playing style is  too close to Ricardo Kaka i loved it because (i love him so much) as well. I felt honor for such nickname. Since then in school and college i got famous by this nickname specially in soccer field. I always wear his chosen number as well. 22.
