As a follow up to a question that Didge had posted about our city's history, I spent time in my city's archives.
I learned a lot more about the early history of my town, and got to see a lot of pictures. Absolutely fascinating.
Of particular interest, that most of the resorts or hotels burned within 5-10 years of being built. A lot of work and money down the drain. Most could not recover from the financial burden of losing their investments.
Millionaires row was a place that considered a 15,000 square foot home "modest". The listing of those millionaires are some of the biggest magnates of their time.
Every parcel of land was sold with the contingency that the new owner would dedicate some of their land to an orange grove.
Apparently not enough! We have to go back tomorrow!
